Tropical Flower Applique



I love, love, LOVE this flower. I came up with the pattern after looking at several items on Etsy. It's a pretty straight-forward pattern, with triple crochets.

They work out to be about 1.75 inches using size 10 thread and size 8 hook.

Ch 6. Sl st together to form ring

Row 1: Ch 3, 2 tr, ch 3, *3 tr, ch 3. Repeat from * 3 more times. Join with SC to top of CH 3.
Row 2: *Sc in next st (middle TR), (2 dc, 3 tr, {ch 3, sl st with first ch of ch3}, 3 tr, 2 dc) in the 3 ch sp; sc in next ch. Repeat from * 4 more times.
Finishing off: Instead of a sc in the very last ch, sl st, and fasten off.

  1. These flowers are very sweet, but I'm confused about your instructions in Round 2. After Round 1, you say to join with a sc in the top of the ch3. But then in Round 2, you say to sc in the next chain. What next chain? After the top of the ch 3, there are 2 tc, no chains. Then you say to 2 dc and 3 tr. But where are these stitches to go? Into the next 2 tr? Can you help clarify? Thanks.

  2. I just made this last night. The sc should go into the next st not the next ch (so you're doing a sc in the middle st of the 3 tc that you made in round 1...)

    When you do the ch 3 after the 3 tc then you sl st into the first st of that same ch that you just made (so it makes a little pointy bit at the top of the petal) Then you do the next 3 tc & 2 dc into the sames space as the other tc & dc to complete the first petal.

    Hope that helps a bit. I've explained it as best as I can!!
