Easy Granny-Stitch Bag - Free pattern

I saw this bag: http://www.tangledhappy.com/2010/11/granny-stripe-boutique-bag.html and loved it! however, it was too small and it didn't have a solid bottom. I then made an adjustable pattern for anyone to use to make any size bag using this same stitch.

To adjust the size of the bag, just add a multiple of 3 (that means a number divisible by 3) to each of the underlined numbers in the pattern. It must be the same number added to each one, or it won't work. Also, you can't add another round to the bottom of the bag with this pattern, the number of stitches won't work. If you do adjust the size of the bag, please notice that you may have some difficulty with the placement of the handles. Just read the pattern and you should be OK. I would not advise adjusting the pattern if you are not comfortable with improvisation!

Materials:
Size H crochet hook
Worsted weight yarn
Sewing needle

Gauge:
Not essential, but using (light) worsted weight yarn and size H hook, mine came out to be 10 inches wide and 5 inches tall

Pattern:
Bag
Rnd 1: Ch 28. Dc in 4th ch from hk and in the next 23 ch, 7 dc in next ch; turn slightly to work on the opposite side of the foundation chain, dc in next 23 ch, 5 dc in last ch, join with sl st to 3rd ch of starting chain.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, (counts as dc), dc in next 26 dc, 3 dc in next 3 dc, dc in next 27 dc, 3 dc in next 3 dc. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of starting chain.  You should have 72 stitches
Rnd 3: Ch 3(counts as dc), 2 dc in the same space**, (sk 2 dc, 3 dc in next st) repeat around, ending with sl st to 3rd ch of starting chain. (72 sts)
Rnd 4: Ch 3(counts as dc), 2 dc in the space just behind starting chain, (sk 2 dc, 3 dc in next st) repeat around, ending with sl st to 3rd ch of starting chain. (72 sts)
Repeat round 4 seven times, or until the bag is your desired height

Handles
If you made your bag taller, you’re going to have to figure out how many sl st to shift the beginning of your round to the end of one handle. Otherwise, follow the pattern as follows:
Rnd 1: ch 1, sc in each ch around, join with sl st (72 sts)
Rnd 2: ch 1, sc in each ch around, join with sl st (72 sts)
Rnd 3: ch 1, sc in the next 23 sts, ch 13, sk next 13 sts, sc in next 23 sts, ch 13 and join with beginning sc with sl st. (72 sts)
Rnd 4: ch 1, sc in each ch around, join with sl st (72 sts)
Rnd 5: ch 1, sc in each ch around, join with sl st (72 sts)

**Stitch Help**
You work the two double crochet in the space behind the starting chain. If you prefer to not use this method, you may, instead of the starting chain, (sl st in next 3 sts, ch 3). I do not like the look of the sl st, so I do it this way. Photo help available in PDF document

  2. The pattern doesn't match the picture. I have redone this bag 2 times and i keep getting too many stitches and the wave look to it. Could you tell me what I am done wrong. I swear I have done this pattern exactly as written.
